Hand sketching is a "forgotten art" that's underappreciated in the design community. Before all the fancy programs, a pencil and paper were all we had. It was, and up until now is a way to quickly jot down brainstorming ideas. When you obtain a million-dollar idea that you don't want to forget, you can't wait for AutoCAD to boot up. You require a swift method to sketch what the rough idea was. Something that can be finalized online but touched upon later on paper.

PENCILS ARE YOUR FRIEND

We are in the 21st century. Technology has been advancing exponentially. Design programs like AutoCAD, Fusion360, Photoshop, and Illustrator have updated and made the need for drafting useless. Even though technology has made our lives easier when it comes to designing, doesn't mean that it's necessarily the best option.

When developing a portfolio, adding personal hand sketches are highly recommended. Demonstrating the ability to communicate design through another median will show your full range. Also having the ability to rapidly sketch is a necessity as a designer. It helps show the design process of your work. The way you think before the final product.
